You and I 03:08
You and I Written and Performed By Malik I.M. aka Sun Toucha for © ZionHorizon Music Publishing SOCAN Intro. Sun Toucha deep breaths (4x) Verse You and I = 4ever as One To see the new horizons Our hearts and minds imagine Creating standards to live beyond the desolation Imprisoned by self-hatred and isolation Reasons have blossomed Like leaves on trees It’s time to breathe life into dead realities Cuz the new buds of black thought That have arrived It’s time to keep in line with the outline And never stray from the righteous path The ancestors laid Never spend life paying a debt You never really made Never think about tomorrow Until you've done something today Shooting the breeze Watch the stray words Start to ricochet away Time to realize the importance of coming as community So come You and I And redefine what is unity Determined to be MORE than inferior Beyond the boundaries of colour On our exterior And breaking all these barriers Crushing all hysteria Searching for divine direction On the interior And with responsibility navigate through negativity Beyond the bling bling stunting flossing black and white dependency In this 21st century, raising our hands in victory Finding glory in our legacy That’s been covered in mystery Forever we’ll be ships without rudders Cars without steering wheels In the era of keepin it real Battlecries of caps getting peeled It's heaven or hell With shottas bustin dey tools We wear the mask Asking di oppressors to educate us in schools That's like the blind Teaching the unblind how to see Placing the Devil in the position Of the Almighty That's like a clown teaching us How to ve serious And we wonder why we're forever delirious Nihilists who don't cherish Their lives which are precious Lives of brevity not longevity As our people just perish It’s about US: not individual It’s about US: transcend the physical It’s about US: one with the spiritual It’s about US: using the lyrical It’s about US: conditions stay critical Coming to a consciousness within you Moving fwd as the revolution continues. Chorus. It’s You/It’s I/It’s Us when we shine/Keep yuh rass outta trouble/Can't afford to fall behind/ It’s You/It’s I/It’s Us when we shine/It's US when we rhyme/It’s Us realign! (2x) Outro. about

Malik I.M. aka Sun Toucha, is a Toronto-born emcee/reggae deejay of Jamaican/Antiguan descent. His insightful lyrics and memorable punchlines routinely have the listener exercising the rewind-button and the DJ ‘wheeling’ the track. Le Nomad MC, is a Montreal-born emcee/griot of Haitian/Cuban descent. His versatile flow goes from incisive salvos to undulating harmonies as he toggles seamlessly between emcee, ‘sing-jay’ and singer. Rounding out the group is the Georgetown (Guyana)-born and Kingston (Jamaica) –raised DJ GQ. He is a musical chameleon whose patois-infused verses are matched by flawlessly-sung hooks and captivating ad-libs.

Zion Horizon's debut LP Speaking To The Globe, Volume 1 is not just a musical movement but also an educational one. Our mandate is to educate and (inner) attain—i.e entertain—our audience about social justice issues of a local and international nature. We use our music and voices to speak truth to power in order to highlight issues affecting our youth such as racism, miseducation, health and wellness, poverty, self-esteem, food security, politics, and much more. Furthermore, in addition to the music, we are committed to using our artistic platform to affect change and create opportunities for racialized and marginalized youth in our society. When silence is consent, speaking the truth is dissent.
